What is EXIF data?

Every photo your phone or camera takes is bundled with hidden data: your exact GPS coordinates, the camera make and model, the date and time, your device's serial number, and sometimes your name if you've set it in the device settings. This is EXIF data — and it travels with your photo every time you share it.

Why remove it?

Sharing a photo publicly — on social media, in a forum post, as a profile picture — can expose your home address, your daily routine, and your equipment. EXIF remover strips all of that before the file leaves your hands.

How it works

SORO re-encodes your photo through the browser's Canvas API. The Canvas only holds raw pixel data — there is no mechanism for metadata to survive the re-encoding. The output file is mathematically incapable of carrying the original metadata. Nothing is sent to a server. The processing happens entirely in your browser tab.

Supported formats

JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, and AVIF. HEIC files from iPhones cannot be decoded natively in most browsers — convert to JPEG first using the Image Converter, then run EXIF Remover.
