Parameters stripped by default (30+)

What are tracking parameters?

Tracking parameters are extra pieces of text appended to URLs after a question mark. They don't change the page you see — they exist purely to tell the destination website, or a third-party analytics service, where you came from. utm_source, fbclid, and gclid are the most common. Every major advertising and analytics platform has its own set.

Who adds them?

Marketers add UTM parameters to every link they share so they can measure campaign performance in Google Analytics. Facebook appends fbclid to every outbound link. Google Ads appends gclid. Twitter adds twclid. Email marketing platforms like Mailchimp add mc_eid. When you copy a URL from any of these contexts, you're copying the tracking data with it.

Why clean them before sharing?

When you paste a tracked URL into a message or a document, the recipient's click gets attributed to your session's source, not theirs. You're also sharing information about where you found the link — which campaign, which platform, which email list. A clean URL is shorter, more readable, and doesn't carry that context.

What is nuclear mode?

Nuclear mode strips every query parameter from the URL — not just known trackers, but everything after the ?. Use it when you want the absolute bare URL. Be careful: some sites use query parameters for legitimate purposes, like ?page=2 or ?id=123. Nuclear mode will strip those too.
