File tools that never see your files.
SORO is a growing collection of free browser-based utilities for files, images, PDFs, links, and text. Every tool runs entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server, ever — not as a policy, but as a fact of how the software is built.
Why it exists
Most online file tools work the same way: you upload your file to a server, the server processes it, the server sends the result back. It's convenient, but it means every photo you clean, every PDF you sign, and every spreadsheet you convert is being held somewhere you don't control — often for minutes, sometimes for days, sometimes indefinitely.
You have no way to verify what happens to it. You're asked to trust a privacy policy written by lawyers, enforced by nobody, and changed whenever the business model shifts.
SORO does the opposite. Every tool is a single HTML page you load once. From that moment on, it runs as JavaScript in your browser tab, using your own device's CPU to do the work. There is no backend. There is no API endpoint your file could be sent to even if we wanted one. The privacy isn't enforced by policy — it's enforced by architecture.
Your file never leaves your device. Open DevTools, watch the Network tab, drop a file. You'll see zero outbound requests related to your file. That's the entire product.
What that means in practice
No uploads
Files are read by your browser's File API and processed in memory. Nothing is transmitted.
No accounts
There is no sign-up, no email, no password. Open the page and it works.
No tracking cookies
We don't fingerprint, we don't build profiles, and we don't sell data. We have no data to sell.
Works offline
Once a tool page is loaded, disconnect your Wi-Fi. It keeps working, because nothing depends on a server.
How it works, technically
The architecture is simple and deliberate:
The only requests your browser makes are for the page itself, its stylesheet, one web font, and occasionally a small JavaScript library from a CDN (like pdf-lib for PDF work or qrcode-generator for QR codes). None of those requests contain anything about your files.
What tools are available
Ten tools are live as of today, covering the most common file tasks that people usually have to upload for:
More tools get added as we identify gaps where the existing options force an upload. The bar is: if a task can be done in the browser, it should be done in the browser.
Who runs this
SORO is built and maintained independently. There's no company behind it, no investors, no growth targets. The current business model is straightforward: display non-intrusive ads to cover hosting costs, and keep the tools free forever. The tools will never be put behind a paywall and the privacy promise won't be downgraded.
Hosting is on Cloudflare Pages — a static host that never sees your files because there's no server code for it to run. The site is fully static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You can read every byte of it with View Source.
Verifying the promise
We don't ask you to trust us. We built the site so that trust isn't required. If you want to confirm that nothing is happening to your files:
- Open DevTools (F12 or Cmd+Option+I)
- Go to the Network tab
- Drop a file into any tool
- Watch the network activity — you'll see nothing related to your file
You can also disconnect from the internet entirely after a tool page loads. Everything keeps working. That's a property of the architecture, not a marketing claim.
